Landon found himself for some reason laying on the stone ground, his hands at his sides as he stared blankly at the ceiling. He hasn't been in the prison for very long but he already hates it. The boy wasn't used to being isolated like this. Landon needs people, but not the people in here. The new inmate licked his lips and let out a long, sorrowful sigh. His drug cravings were driving him mad and he was starting to go over ways he could get high somehow. Landon was thinking about his little sister and how she was doing without him. The four year old girl was the only thing Landon really did care about; not even his parents were on that list. His sister had down syndrome and Landon was the only one who really could communicate with her in a way, and without her big brother by her side, what would she do? He could still here her voice in his mind and it forced his eyes to close and his mind to imagine she was right by his side; but suddenly he snapped himself back into reality when he heard footsteps coming down the hallway. The inmate sat up and turned his head to the small window he would be able to see the person in outside, free and hopefully happier than anyone in here. "What do you want?"

Birdy walked down the hall a mop in her hands and chains around her feet. While on opposite sides of her a few feet down the hall stood a guard watching her scrub the floor. She whispered "Stupid floor duty." After you have been here for a while they started giving you jobs to keep the jail clean and such. Although Birdy loved getting out of her cell she just hated the jobs she had to do in order to get out. Plus she was not fully free her feet were still bound together. Mumbling to herself she turned her head to the side and said to the ghost of her brother "So yea, now you know what it is like to live life this way." She laughed as the guard asked her who she was talking to. She shrugged in reply and turned back to her work, half of her wondered if this jail was making her go crazy. But the other half of her said that she was just fine and her brother was coming to her. When Birdy reached the end of the hall she heard the simple words of 'What do you want?' Turning to the person she said softly "To not bother you." She turned back to scrubbing this part of the floor but then stopped and looked behind her at the guard. Then she turned back to the guy and looked him over through the small cell. "I am guessing your new here?" she said it like a question although she knew the answer. She looked down at her work when the guard looked back up at her.

Oh, it was a girl. Maybe talking to someone wasn't that bad after all. "You can tell?" he teased, his voice joyful but only showed half a smirk on his lips. Maybe it wasn't that hate to tell he was new. Landon was a lot more tense than most of the other prisoners here. Everyone must have been like this when they first got tossed in here, and obviously this girl has been here long enough to recognize that. Well, either that or she mopped here often and she distribution recognize him. Wait? She was cleaning? Whoot! Landon could just barely smell the cleaning supplies not to far away from her. The stench traveled up his nose and into his mind for half a second and the cravings were at it's climax. The prisoner peeked to the side, than to the other side, but than tied to see around the girl. There they were! A bottle of some spray, a bucket and cloth. "Hey, babe." he whispered so he wouldn't be heard. It wasn't a surprise that he called her babe either, he did that to every girl he knew, expels his sister who he called 'princess'. "Wanna be my beat friend and grab that spray bottle and cloth for me?" he begged, pointing towards them. Landons attitude started to hype up in hopes it would work. He just needed a few seconds, maybe more and he'd be higher than a kite and happier than anyone in here.

Birdy rolled her eyes and said "Yeah I know your new and all, but my name is Birdy. Be nice if you called me that instead of babe." She turned back to her work and when he asked her to give him the cloth and spray she snorted. All she said to him sarcastically "Oh goodie another druggie." She scowled as she remember her mother and her brother selling drugs. Then she said a little nicer this time "I can't do that, believe me those guards are very watchful." The guard yelled down the hall a little sarcastically "Birdy you still talking to your ghost friend." From the angle the guard was at it was obvious that he could not see the guy in the cell. Turning her head back to her work she felt offended by what the guard said. Then she yelled back this time a little on the defensive side "I am not crazy." Grabbing the spray bottle and nothing else she shoved it towards the guy, but still holding farther from him so he could not reach and grab. The guard did not even look up after she claimed she was not crazy. Finally she asked "And you are?"

Landon rolled his eyes when he was called a druggie. "Well Exuse me for at least not threatening you." he growled, his hands gripping the short cell bars. "Comooooon. Please?" he whined with a charming smile. As the guard seemed to have insulted her, it formed a very smart idea in his head that may help her and benefit him also. "You know, Birdy," he began, "Obviosuly you're not a... Druggie, but, you know that cleaner thing takes off a lot of stress. Trust me. I never fit in at school and I started to sniff that stuff when I was 13. It feels good. Just spray it onto that cloth over there and than pretend to blow your nose but sniff it instead. Want me to demonstrate?" he asked, trying to extend his arm to the bottle but couldn't reach in the end. His teeth clenched together and he grumbled in frustration. "It'll help you forget everything! Oh, and my names Landon...."

Birdy picked up the cleaner cloth and looked at it. At first it was tempting but in the end she bitterly laughed and said "I don't want to forget. If I forget I know I will forget him to and life sucks without him." Her words did not sound very sentimental or anything that showed that she was sorry for what she did, but more bitter and hateful. Looking back at the guard she turned back to Landon. Then she said "But you can demonstrate if you like. I defiantly won't be following your example though." She slid her hand with the cloth through the bar and dropped it in his cell. Then she dropped the bottle in and said "I guess all I can say is give that back to me when your done. I am very good at slipping things in and out." Birdy winked this time playing along and turned back to the guard and with her acting skills. She yelled to the guard "What did you do with my freaking spray bottle and cloth. You stupid man you probably forgot it." Of course the guard and her always clashed like this, they hated each other. But he never punished her for what she said just because he knew he could do nothing for her cursing at him. He put his hands up and defeat as he said "Fine sorry for calling you crazy earlier. Be right back." The guard left to go find the cleaning supplies as another one replaced his spot. Looking into Landon's cell she asked "So how does it make you feel. My mother did drugs, but I was always to scared of her to ask." It made her laugh a little as she wondered how she was afraid of her mom when she should be afraid of herself rather.

Very quickly, Landon picked up the cloth, toying with the cloth, all shaky since the anticipation to get high was overwhelming. The cloth was dry and sort of stiff and the bottle that was tossed through the bars that moment would fix it all. Landon's smirk turned into a twisted smile and he sprayed the cloth numerous times until the cloth looked moist enough. "Look, it's easy." He insisted, before holding the cloth over his nose and mouth, shutting his eyes and taking a long, deep breath. Even after he was done breathing he still had the cloth over his mouth and his eyes were still shut. The boy looked as if his mind has escaped from his body and flew. Of in his purple unicorn. That's how he felt, anyway. Landon slowly removed the cloth from his face and it releaved a warm, joyful smile. "Its that easy..." He said, his eyes blinking slowly. "You sure you don't want to try it? No ones watching..." He offered, sticking the cloth through the bars and waving it at her face. "It feels so good! Promise, you'll like it..." Landon looked at the bottle that he dropped on the floor and slowly processed the thought of hiding the bottle and keeping it for himself. It would be a good idea but the consequences of getting caught would be horrible. Whatever. Maybe it was all worth it in the end. Life sucked here anyway and he might as well bring some joy into it.

Birdy narrowed her eyes and shook her head. Then she said "I hope you know I am out in the middle of a hallway that any guard can pass through at any moment. Unlike you who is inside a cell were no one can see you drug yourself." She slowly pushed his hand and the cloth away from her face. She shook her head once more this time a little out of annoyance rather then saying 'no'. Turning to the door she wondered what took the guard so long she actually felt like going back to her cell now. Birdy then turned quickly back to Landon. "I swear if you get caught or you tell anyone. I won't be a very happy girl. So bottom line is don't tell anyone and don't show anyone. Because if you get caught the evidence will be pointing to me." Then she wondered why the crap she had not thought of the consequences before. Again she narrowed her eyes and over and over again whispered to herself "Now you think smart Birdy. Good job!" Looking at Landon she hoped that he did not or does not do anything stupid when his is high. Sitting down on the cold hallway floor she looked at the door waiting for the stupid guard to return. Well, her refusing to take the cloth was in a way a good thing for him, for he had it all to himself now. Landon sniffed from the cloth once more before he stumbled to the back of his cell, trying to find a place to everything. The inmate was actually lucky and found a little secret storage that he assumed an inmate previous to him that live here made. Landon shoved the bottle and cloth inside and secured the hiding spot, and than walked bak to Birdy who gave him a little lecture about keeping her generosity a secret. "won't tell a soul." He promised, his voice a little off and tired-sounding. But than she sat down and didn't talk to him. Aw, it's a shame skive he was having fun walking to her. "Birdy~" he sang, whistling like a bird to tease at her name. "Common I want to talk! It's boring as hell in here!" He whined, his hands holding onto the bars. Landon came to enjoy this girl's company a lot now , and the feet that in Landon's eyes Birdy seemed very attractive made it even more enjoyable for her to be around him. His fingers were stretching out of his cell and Landon started to loose his balance. Maybe sitting down was also a good idea.

Birdy asked a little annoyed "Do you always whine like that?" To her he seemed like the type of guy who knew how to get what he wanted and was spoiled at the same time. She snorted a little at her own thoughts and shrugged. Running her hand through her hair she slowly moved her hand towards her scar which she touched and then covered with her hair once more. It was a big long habit that made Birdy do this. Her first impression of Landon was basically yeah he is cute but not ever in my life will I put up with annoying whining boy like him. She took out the part that she just let him drug himself so that she did not have to think of other reasons why she wanted so badly to hate Landon. But again she shrugged and said almost to herself the same time he started losing his balance "Uh I really do think you should sit down and not be to loud at that." Yawning she just said in a bummed out town "Damn, I really wish that life would have given me a better path. Because this place is horrible although I do admit it is better then the place I came from, much better." Looking up at the ceiling she shook her head as a look of disgust came onto her face.

Landon slid down onto the floor, his shoulder against the locked cell door. It was cold against his skin, but he assumed he had to get used to it, he'd be here for a long time. "I hate it here too." He replied, his voice calmer and a lot more serious and... Caring? "I mean, it's not that bad in general it's just I miss people. It's lonely." Landon looked at his feet as they swayed like a nine year old would. "Well, just my little sister. She has Down syndrome." Landon didn't say much after that because there really wasn't else to say. His little sister was the only thing that meant something to him and without her it was hard for him. Landon noticed Birdy say something about an other place. It sounded interesting and he wanted to learn more. Was it another jail? Or maybe where she lived beforehand? "where... Did you live before?" He asked, looking up at the window be could barely see from how he was sitting down.

Birdy was not expecting anyone to ask that questions especially a guy she just met. A chill went up her spine as she opened her mouth to speak. But she soon stopped her words getting caught in her mouth. She pulled her knees to her chest and tried to speak again. "I lived with my older brother and twin brother. Well more like we lived with are parents. But it never seemed that way. We felt like we were on our own thats how everything went downhill. I swear that this place is much better then there anywhere is much better then there." She paused and said softly "If I do get out of here though I plan to go back there and get my stuff, unless my mom sold all our stuff first." After listening to Landon about his sister, it surprised her a bit. But some of the surprise was ruined by her own thoughts. She smiled sadly at the mention of his sister before she talked. Then she said "I use to have two brothers, I mean I still have two brothers. But one of them is dead, he was my twin. Your just lucky that your sister is still with you." After talking about this she flattened out her lags on the cold floor and again looked up at the ceiling. She did not know exactly what to say next.

Landon didn't also know what to say either, except for saying they both have family, which was pointless for it was so obvious. His parents weren't like Birdy's though, for they actually cared about him a lot but Landon didn't care about them at all. At times he would regret that but whenever he talked to his parents it would always be about why he changed from a strait a student to a trashy teenager. Than they would yell at each other, make Isabella, his little sister cry, and with that he'd carry Isabella upstairs and entertain her, remembering why he didn't really like them. The separation between them was horrible. He'd never eat with them and not return home until late at night so no one was awake. There was many more things he'd do but it would take far to long to explain them all. After a little while of the two holding an awkward silence Landon thought of something to day. "how long have you been stuck here for?" He asked, cracking all of his knuckles as he spoke.

Birdy said "I don't know two maybe three years. I don't really count or keep up with the date. I probably would have just been in juvie if I had not." She stopped mid sentence and shrugged not wanting to say much more then that. She was truly ashamed of what she did and she did not want to dwell on it. Instead she tried to change the subject. "So um do you know how long it's going to be before you get out?" Her voice cracked a little at the sudden change of subject since her mind was still dwelling on what she was going to say. She really did not want others to know. Of course she would say 'yeah I got in here because I stole stuff and hacked onto computers.' But she refused to say the thing even she could not believe she did. Half of her could not believe she even got caught since most of the other charges she was charged for in court were dropped because there was no proof. Shivering she tried like she always did to erase her mind and for a moment or two she regretted not taking the cloth and bottle and drugging herself. But she soon wiped that away to, it was easy for her now. She took a deep breath and let it out wondering how long she had been sitting here talking to Landon.

Landon laughed at a little at her question, than stressed his fingers through his hair with a smile on his lips for no reason but just being completely away from reality due to the cleaner Birdy generously gave to him. "I can't cant remember." He admitted, sliding the bottom of his ugly orange Crocks on the paved flooring. "I was charged with drug abuse, like crack, meth and shit, under aged drinking... Uh, domestic violence... And arson. Maybe you could do the math for me Birdy. You've been in here long enough. You should know how long I'll be cooped up in here." Landon stretched his arms in the main and let out a little moan force out from it. Stretching felt nice and he wondered why he hasn't done that in a while, it's almost like the recent stress has made him forget how to relax.
